If I knew you more than ten years ago, I would ask you to drink green tea. Many of my patients did start drinking green tea then. More than ten years later, now, we get together and look at each other. We start laughing because we have not changed. They told me they are lucky to have me. I told them that I am lucky to have them as my evidence. The only time I see them is when they come to my office to pick up authentic green tea.
Tea is the most widely consumed beverage on the planet, next to water. Green tea comes from the evergreen bush (Camellia sinensis), native to China and Southeast Asia. The difference is how the tea leaves are prepared, so its active medicinal constituents remain unchanged. In addition to volatile oils, vitamins and minerals, green tea leaves contain polyphenols, powerful antioxidants that neutralize DNA-damaging free radicals.
Traditional Chinese medicine has long recommended green tea for headaches, body aches and pains, indigestion, depression, detoxification, and immune enhancement. Research now suggests that polyphenols, in particular the catechin epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), may be responsible for many of green tea's historical and newly discovered health benefits.
Clinical applications
Tea and cancer - Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among U.S. men. The Chinese, who regularly drink green tea, have the world's lowest occurrence of prostate cancer. The Japanese, who also drink green tea regularly, purchase the most cigarettes in the world and yet have the lowest lung cancer occurrence.
Another study demonstrated a lower recurrence rate among states I and II breast cancer patients who drank high levels of green tea daily. Other studies reveal people who drink large quantities of green tea have lower rates of lung, esophageal, stomach, and other cancers.
Tea and heart disease- The antioxidant polyphenols found in green tea may also help prevent heart disease. Oxidation is associated with plaque buildup on arterial walls. In one study, green tea delayed oxidation of LDL lipoproteins (bad cholesterol). The antioxidant effect is similar to that of vitamin E. By slowing down oxidation, green tea protects the heart.
Tea and diabetes- Tea and its various preparations have been used extensively in China for the treatment of diabetes.
Tea and obesity- Long term use of green tea has been considered to be beneficial for keeping a health body weight.
Tea and longevity- Some evidence suggests that tea drinking may also promote longevity, which is expressed a low mortality rates, among Japanese females who are traditional practitioners of the tea ceremony. Catechins in green tea are far stronger antioxidants than the well-known antioxidant vitamin E (-20 times stronger).
Tea and osteoporosis- Low bone mineral density known as "osteoporosis" is the biggest cause of fractures among elderly women. The leading cause of this disease is hormone deficiencies which cause the bones and joints to become thin and fragile. A study suggested that drinking one to six cups of tea daily might significantly reduce the risk of bone fracture by increasing bone mineral density. Bone mineral density at the base of the spine and at two hip regions was significantly higher in tea drinkers when the data were adjusted to account for age and body weight.
Tea, arthritis and inflammation- Many published studies have suggested that green tea has anti-inflammatory properties. In our clinical experiences a dental patient needed a crown and other dental work, but their gums were inflamed and the patient was allergic to many western medicines. We had the patient drink green tea to get the inflammation under control.
Green tea has many other medical effects like: positive neurological effects, inhibits bacterial growth effects. If you need more information about green tea, please contact us or search online.
We developed Rose Green Tea for helping prevent cancer, increasing blood circulation, curbing the desire to eat sweets and reducing the effect of aging. People love to drink it and watch the rose flowers float. What an aromatherapy! We developed Jasmine Green Tea for helping to soothe and tranquilize the spirit. Peach Green Tea & Hawthorne Berry Green Tea is used for losing weight. Peony Green Tea is used for stomach upset. Plum Green Tea can soothe PMS symptoms. Chrysanthemum Green Tea is for heat problems in the summer.
By opting for green tea instead of that second cup of coffee, you're protecting yourself against the two most deadly diseases of Western society.
Authentic Green Tea- is from West Lake, Hangzhou, China. Dragon Well Green Tea is a brand name and well known in China. The tea bush has been planted since the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The tea has a very special taste because of the very unique climate, soil and the special technique used to process the tea leaves.
Today I am here to educate you that prevention is never too late. Just think about the health care costs in the last ten years sky rocketing and the bad news about the side effects of drugs or the flu vaccine shortage. What we can do in a simple way for ourselves and our families to prevent any sickness.
The best example of the power of Chinese medicine is my daughter Rebecca. From birth until now, at age 14, she has never had ear infections or any high fever that made us rush to the doctor. She has only had well visits with the doctor. Today she is a young musician and a concert pianist, straight A+ student through middle school and now she is at Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts. The point I am making is that a healthy body leads to good performance. There are two ways to think about it. If I am sick all the time, she is not going to make it. If she is sick all the time, I am not going to be here to educate you. Some of my patients did ask me if Rebecca took any Happy Mood. I told them that when she was a little girl, she knew many people came for Happy Mood, she was curious. I told her: "You are a happy Buddha, you don't need Happy Mood"! When she became a teenager, she was more curious about the bottle. Finally, I let her open one bottle. For a long time, the bottle was still there. I have not seen her finish it. One day I told her: "Rebecca, please don't waste my herb. You make me unhappy"! Before she left home for Massachusetts, I did squeeze two bottles of Happy Mood in her back pack, just in case she needs it. If you would like more details on how I kept my daughter healthy, please read my book A Long Journey to My Dream.
If we make an effort for ourselves and our family, we can prevent big expenses down the road. And more likely, we don't need anything like Happy Mood, Women's Cap or anything else you name-just green tea.
I hope that in 3-5 years from now, we will be able to get together here again. I would be very happy to hear your story of what you did for yourself and your family after today, and how much it saved you in health care costs, with the effort you put into it. I am here to tell you: YOU CAN DO IT!
